I recently read in some magazine, a Hunt follower asking for Hunting with Hounds to continue because, “there are so many wonderful poems about the beauty of the hunt”. His idea of Nature and my idea of Nature are different. As is his idea of Poetry and my idea of Poetry.
A wasteland
Destruction everywhere
Broken trees
Jagged earth
Silence, ugliness,
Desolation…
Nilgai, or blue bulls, are traditionally considered sacred creatures in Hindu culture. Despite this, hundreds of nilgai are now being killed in India alongside other wild animals, as authorized by the country’s Environment Ministry under Prakash Javadekar.
They slip quietly into extinction
Little fragile ones,
Dusky seaside sparrows,
Mission blue butterflies.
Great peaceful giants,

In Ukraine’s current economic situation, people can’t afford to take care of animals. Our work includes providing medical aid for people’s pets, rescuing wild animals from private zoos, rehabilitating wildlife, and sterilizing and vaccinating stray dogs and cats in the country.
The Moca Zoo in the Dominican Republic was built 32 years ago above an open septic pool. The animals are sick and continue dying with no appropriate veterinary care whatsoever. SODOPRECA is fighting to end their suffering in these squalorous conditions.

Researchers from Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill are testing the ability of drones to detect sharks in coastal waterways. Drones could eventually help alert swimmers to the presence of a shark, as well as track and study sea turtles, seals, and other marine animals.
Sadly, while our society has a lot of empathy for companion animals, wildlife issues remain largely ignored. This short video was created for organizations and individuals to raise awareness about the horrors of trapping.

It is common in nature that animals return and reproduce at the place of birth, but the reasons for such homing behavior are often obscure. A study of pike in the Baltic Sea coastal areas of Sweden reveals that if individuals spawn at the same place they were born this gives their offspring a better start in life.
