Good evening everybody my name is Myrto and I have a question for you. I have a male cat the which is for about seven months old and likes going outside the house on its own but is also free to get inside if he likes. My problem is that I don’t know if I should spay him or not. He is very healthy but the problem is the stray kittens that are going to be created by him (in my country we have a big problem with the stray animals). Do you know if the sterilizaton is going to change its behavior or damage its health? I would also like to ask which sterilization method shall we use
Definitely he should be neutered, otherwise he will only add to the number of cats already living on the street struggling to get by. You’ll want to take him to a licensed veterinarian for the surgery, as do-it-yourself neuter methods are always painful, brutal, and can cause serious injuries or infections. There are no negative health effects from proper spay or neuter, and there can actually be benefits such as lower risk of certain cancers and (obviously) sexually transmitted diseases. The only likely behavior change is that he may become calmer and less aggressive, which would also improve his physical health since it means he’ll be less likely to get into fights with other cats.
Thanks for your reply, I will take your opinion into consideration
