The Vegan Society is the oldest vegan society in the world, founded in November 1944 in the UK by Donald Watson, who coined the word “Vegan”. We strive to make Veganism mainstream, support and encourage people to live the lifestyle, advise health professionals, caterers, manufacturers and influence policy makers. Our vision is a world where humans do not exploit non-human animals; a world where animals are free to exist in their own right, people enjoy sustainable and healthy diets, and the environment is in balance.
