I often get asked by non vegans, “But you eat plants isn’t that the same as eating animals? Don’t plants feel pain?” I try to show respect for all life. Even plant life. A meat eater actually causes the death of more plants than a plant eater-because of the in-efficient method of feeding huge numbers of plants to an animal which you then eat. But my main argument is that, what would be the evolutionary benefit of plants feeling pain? When burning in a fire they could only cry out internally, “Ouch ouch”. They couldn’t run away. The pain would serve no purpose.
