POETRY: Symmetry

November trees,
Naked in their beauty.
Graceful bare arms
Reaching for the still-warm sun
A tangle of the finest dark lace
Against the pale winter sky.

Swaying their slender brown bodies
To the dance of the earth.
Knowing their place
Patiently,
Intimately.
Knowing the wind and the rain
As friend and lover.
Listening,
Between Father Sky
And Mother Earth
To the music of the Cosmos.

Now they draw down the sap
Preparing for the winter sleep.
Remembering
The passion of Spring.
Honoring the seasons,
And death
And resurrection.

What microcosmic symmetry.
