POETRY: Paradise Lost

Once
There were rivers of birds
Flowing, swirling,
Connecting light and beauty
Between Earth and Sky.

And the ocean
Flowed with salmon
Holy and silver
Interweaving land and water.

And vast waves of bison
Rolled over the plains
And the wolf ruled the forest
And the bear the mountain.

And in the streams and rivers
Beavers and otters
Tended the waters.
And they were pure.

And it was Paradise.
And Gaia blossomed.
She tempered the seasons
And Earth was green and fair
And, in her delight,
She brought forth new creations.

One of these was human.

And thus was Paradise Lost.
