If conservationists were as interested in preventing the release of exotic species as they are in exterminating them once they have escaped or deliberately been released, enviro-conservation groups would be campaigning against the pet trade. Instead of wrangling over which species can be traded (dead or alive) as conservationists do at CITES meetings, they should declare that they are against all trade in wild species.
