About Us

The Taiwan SPCA was founded in 2009 and then registered as a legal NGO in December 2010 by Annie Chiang, Connie Chiang, and Beki Hunt. In its short history, Taiwan SPCA has been working to promote and improve animal welfare within Taiwan, while working with the government to establish grounds and partnerships that will move the country forward in adopting international standards with regards to animal protection legislation.

Through it’s 4 main pillars of focus:

1) Animal Cruelty Investigations
2) Animal Welfare Education/ Public Awareness Campaigns
3) Stray Animal Rehoming
4) Lobbying

we hope to protect ALL animals and become a leader in Taiwan’s animal welfare sector. Taiwan SPCA also hopes to bring international welfare standards to the country. With a dedicated Board of Directors and Supervisors, featuring professionals from both private and public sectors, the Taiwan SPCA also has the support and guidance that are crucial to a non-profit.

The Taiwan SPCA hopes to continue focusing on the root of animal welfare issues and aims to:

*establish a professionally trained animal inspectorate to prevent and stop animal cruelty
*open a SPCA animal re-homing center and retail store in the center of the city
*establish SPCA branches throughout the country to better help animals in need
*improve animal protection legislation and incorporate international laws into Taiwan
*press to stop the inhumane treatment of ALL animals (experimental animals, farm animals, wild animals, working animals, companion animals).
*promote owner responsibility and promote animal welfare education.
*unite the various animal welfare organizations in Taiwan and establish a coalition that work together in the long-run.
