I do not want to live
On an Earth
Without wolves and bears
And forests
And wild rivers.

How many
Like me
Will die
Of a broken heart
When humans have finished destroying
All that is bright and beautiful,
And the world turns,
Run from a boardroom,
By greedy biotech executives.

Am I, too
An endangered species,
Whose sense of beauty
Finds no place
In the cages of civilization
In the evolving holocaust?

Like the monkey at the forest edge
I shake my fist
At the monster.
