The Buddha foretold that his Dharma would eventually decline and be forgotten, and accepted that as the inevitable way of things; given the choice, I think he would prefer modern monks to just let it happen than profane his teachings in the name of renewing them. But neither ought to be necessary; instead of serving alcohol (clouding judgment and self-control) and meat (funding an industry which tortures and kills billions of sentient beings every year), why not simply operate a vegetarian tea bar, whose offerings promote rather than profane mindfulness and Bodhisattva compassion?
