POETRY: The Light

The light
Is most beautiful
In the early morning,
Quietly glistening
On dewdrops
And spiders’ webs.

It is, as if
Our poor suffering Earth
Has, one more time,
Absorbed
All the pollution and waste
Of our species
Into Her body
And presents us,
Lovingly,
Again,
With a pure, delicate, dew-filled,
Clear and pristine reborn world.

As the day grows old
Pollution spreads its grey veil
Of dust and poison
And masks the beauty
Of dawn.
